PhD Position in Interdisciplinary Quantum Research

At Universität Stuttgart, we are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our interdisciplinary Research Training Group (RTG) in Photonic Quantum Technologies. Our goal is to develop quantum technology prototypes that work in realistic environments and are compatible with current industry standards.

Project P3: Efficient Coupling of Quantum Components

We aim to employ modern 3D-printing technologies to develop micro-optical components that minimize loss, increase efficiency, and maximize integration. The successful candidate will design and fabricate highly efficient micro-optical and micro-alignment systems via 3D femtosecond direct laser writing.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in optical engineering or physics, with experience in optical system design and realization. Practical skills in Two-Photon-Lithography and micro-optical fabrication techniques are a plus. Excellent communication and team skills are essential for success in our interdisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in optical engineering or physics
  • Theoretical and practical experience in optical system design and realization
  • Experience in Two-Photon-Lithography and micro-optical fabrication techniques (desired)
  • Experimental skills and practical lab experience
  • Communication and team skills
  • Fluency in English
