Job Summary:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Worker to join our team. As a Housekeeping Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and emptying trash
- Strip, seal, wash, and buff floors as assigned
- Coordinate and assist with setup of equipment and furniture for events
- Make periodic rounds of the building and parking lots to ensure safety and security
- Assist students, staff, faculty, and visitors as needed
- Assist with evacuation of the building in case of an emergency
- Perform preventive maintenance and monitor mechanical systems
- Lock and unlock doors, turn on and off lights and unused equipment
Requirements:
- Experience in performance of cleaning tasks, floor care, restroom cleaning, and general custodial care
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and use of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks, lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate manual and power equipment
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service
- Ability to read and understand product labels, handling instructions, user manuals, etc.
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions
- Ability to operate computers and use basic software
- Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the proper way to strip, seal, wash, and buff floors
- Knowledge of basic security
