About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Group Leader to join our team at KHD Humboldt Wedag. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians in the development of mechanical designs for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the activities of a team of engineers and technicians, including the allocation of tasks and resources.
  • Coordinate the execution of projects with external and internal partners, including the management of timelines, production capabilities, and costs.
  • Contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems.
  • Review and approve mechanical designs for compliance with project specifications, including collision detection, normative and welding requirements.
  • Perform calculations for mechanical strength and structural integrity, dimensioning, thermal and mechanical stress analysis, and material selection.
  • Support the engineering departments in the preparation of risk assessments and CE marking.
  • Plan and execute test and investigation programs for customer and development projects, from laboratory to half-technical scale.
  • Collect feedback from construction sites and incorporate experiences into the design or revision of machines and documents.
  • Develop and implement internal training programs.
  • Provide support to sales, product management, and engineering support in all project and execution phases.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on design or equivalent qualification.
  • Several years of experience in the described fields.
  • Ideal experience in the field of plant and heavy machinery or in the stone and earth industry.
  • Very good German and English language skills in writing and speaking.
  • Strong technical affinity and a hands-on mentality.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic working environment.
  • Strong team spirit and ability to coordinate diverse interests within the team.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 20%).
