Cloud Linux OS Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Linux OS Developer to join our team at Amazon Web Services Development Center Germany GmbH - R28. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of the Amazon EC2 virtualization stack and the rpm-based Amazon Linux distribution.
Key Responsibilities- Package Updates: Provide updates for rpm packages containing security and functional fixes.
- Security Vulnerability Assessment: Assess security vulnerabilities in open source software components.
- New Functionality Development: Develop new functionality and automation.
- Code Review: Review code of your peers and have your code reviewed (mostly C, C++, Python).
- Documentation and Runbooks: Ensure that documentation and runbooks are helpful and up-to-date.
- On-Call Responsibility: Participate in on-call rotations to ensure timely issue resolution.
We are building the foundation of the Amazon EC2 virtualization platforms. Our teams are responsible for the development and maintenance of the Amazon hypervisors and Linux Kernels that make up the engine of the Amazon EC2 compute servers. The Dresden-based teams also own the development and support of the Linux operating system kernel and the supporting user space components running on almost every Amazon Server worldwide.

Basic Qualifications- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience working on GNU/Linux distributions, including deployment automation.
