Job Title: Controls Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team at Dematic, a leading global supplier of integrated automated technology, software, and services to optimize the supply chain.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and integrating control systems for intralogistics solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in automation and PLC control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize control hardware and software for intralogistics products and subsystems.
  • Analyze customer requests and implement control solutions.
  • Configure and parameterize field bus systems such as Profibus and Profinet.
  • Configure, test, and optimize different drive technology, e.g., with frequency converters.
  • Manage communication interfaces with higher-level computer systems and subsystems.
  • Emulate customer-specific software.
  • Commission mechatronic challenges and sub-rules at customer sites.
  • Analyze and solve errors in delivered systems.
  • Cultivate and manage customer relationships in international markets.
  • Act as the local contact for project-related questions.
  • Create operating and message interfaces for HMI and SCADA solutions.
  • Create and support documentation and operating instructions.
  • Train customer maintenance personnel on system operations.
Requirements:
  • Educated to degree level in electrical or automation technology or experience as a state-recognized technician in the field of automation technology.
  • Proven experience as Controls/PLC engineer or similar position.
  • Knowledge of PLC controls (Siemens S7, step 7, TIA portal) and bus systems (Profibus, Profinet).
  • Knowledge of electrical drive technology and frequency inverters for controlled motor and servo drives.
  • Strong understanding of mechatronics and ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
  • Team player with customer-focused mindset and excellent communication skills.
  • Full working proficiency in both German and English languages.
  • Willingness to travel within Germany and internationally for approximately 50% of the time.
