Job Title: Accounting Manager

Verisk is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the monthly financial close process for our German business units, ensuring all revenues and costs are properly recorded and balance sheet accounts are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the monthly financial close process for German business units, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards.
  • Own reconciliation between local accounting system and corporate systems.
  • Responsible for accuracy and completeness of German Balance Sheets.
  • Identify and maintain reconciliation of US GAAP differences with reference to German GAAP.
  • Interact with business unit finance and wider Corporate Accounting to produce a timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close.
  • Prepare detailed account analyses as part of the month-end close.
  • Collaborate with external statutory auditors and Corporate Statutory Reporting Team to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  • Work with Corporate Tax team to support local tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
Requirements:
  • 5-8 years of accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 or large regional audit firm experience.
  • Strong knowledge of German GAAP and German financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with DATEV required.
  • Experience in supervising a team of employees.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with local teams and with US/UK.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to self-review, and sense of ownership.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Effective documentation, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge in GAAP rules beneficial.
  • Large ERP experience, with Oracle Fusion a plus.
Education and Skills:
  • Master's degree in Accounting required.
  • Professional accounting qualification preferred.
  • Fluency in English and German required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
