Job Description

As a Scientific Engineering Project Manager at AbbVie, you will play a critical role in enabling the company's pipeline for combination product development and drug delivery. This position requires a strong technical background in engineering and science, as well as excellent project management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the execution of projects across the CPD-DD organization, aligning cross-functional resources and ensuring timely completion.
  • Develop realistic cross-functional project plans with input from other functions, such as Quality and Regulatory.
  • Utilize project management tools for project planning, monitoring, and reporting, maintaining project budgets and timelines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise.
  • Proactively seek out new information in the literature and project management best practices, incorporating this into individual projects and the overall program.
  • Seize opportunities to pursue project-relevant leads that align with the group's strategy.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and GxP compliance.
  • Mentor and supervise a team of one or more, guiding and evaluating their performance.
  • Set project milestones and report progress accordingly, providing project management support for third-party organizations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and typically 12 years of experience, Master's Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience, PhD and typically 4 years of experience.
  • Degree in Engineering/Science or related discipline, with advanced business degree and PMI certification desirable.
  • Knowledge and working experience with medical device/combination products, including design controls.
  • Proficient in project management practices, portfolio review, and budgeting, with high-level competence in Microsoft packages, including Microsoft Project.
  • Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline, with effective writing and communication skills.
  • Broad and diverse cross-functional experience within a matrixed environment, with ability to think strategically and creatively.
