Cloud Operations Engineer

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Operations Engineer to join our team at Simon-Kucher & Partners. As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cloud infrastructure, driving innovation, and delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the complete technical operations of all cloud applications, handling resource allocation, provisioning, high availability setup, disaster recovery, and performance and network operations monitoring.
  • Define and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for configuration management.
  • Automate cloud processes, including infrastructure provisioning, security management, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage the incident management program, reviewing standard policy documentation, facilitating system incident resolution, and conducting post-mortem analysis.
  • Define and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor the health and performance of our AWS cloud environment, ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Measure and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the cloud infrastructure.
  • Update and troubleshoot the cloud infrastructure, working with DevOps engineers to develop an efficient production deployment process.
  • Advise leadership and development teams on cloud infrastructure trends and strategies.

Requirements:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT security, or a related field, along with three or more years of professional experience in cloud operations within multi-product software delivery, cloud services, or SaaS companies.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and multi-tenant SaaS applications.
  • Experienced in DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Proficient with container orchestrators such as Kubernetes (k8s) and ECS, as well as Serverless services and data architectures.
  • Experience with IaC systems like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Skilled in managing Linux-based cloud infrastructures.
  • Familiar with logs and monitoring systems, such as CloudWatch, Kibana, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Experience working with various database engines, including relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases.
  • Passionate about technology trends and digital topics, including cloud technologies and app development.
  • Solid understanding of compliance aspects of IT/cloud security (e.g., SOC II, ISO and ITIL processes).
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in additional languages, especially German, being a strong advantage.
  • Able to communicate effectively across different functions and levels within the organization.
