SAP Basis Consultant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled SAP Basis Consultant to join our team at NGP - SAP & Salesforce Experts. As a key member of our EMEA division, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to our clients in the manufacturing space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Administration: Perform comprehensive SAP Basis administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of SAP systems such as SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and SAP NetWeaver.
  • System Upgrades & Migrations: Lead SAP system upgrades, patches, and migrations (e.g., ECC to S/4HANA) ensuring minimal downtime and seamless transitions.
  • Performance Monitoring & Tuning: Monitor system performance, proactively resolve issues, and optimize SAP systems to ensure high availability and efficiency.
  • Database Management: Administer databases (HANA, Oracle, SQL Server) supporting SAP environments, ensuring data integrity, backup, and recovery processes are efficient and reliable.
  • Security & User Management: Implement and maintain SAP security, including user roles, authorizations, and profiles. Ensure compliance with internal and external security standards.
  • System Integration & Interfaces: Manage integration between SAP and other systems, including middleware, third-party applications, and cloud platforms.
  • Disaster Recovery: Implement and test disaster recovery plans, ensuring systems are prepared for unexpected events.
  • Client Support & Consultation: Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, provide technical guidance, and ensure optimal system performance.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3+ years of SAP Basis administration experience, including system installations, migrations, and performance tuning.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, NetWeaver, HANA databases, and SAP Cloud Platform. Familiarity with operating systems (Linux, Windows) and networking is essential.
  • Problem Solving: Proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Security: In-depth knowledge of SAP security best practices, including role design and authorization management.
  • Project Management: Ability to lead system upgrades, migrations, and other technical projects from planning to execution.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications: SAP Basis certification is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
