Geospatial Researcher

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Geospatial Researcher. As a member of our geospatial research team, you will be responsible for working on geospatial research topics within our Frankfurt core team connected to a globally organized team of experts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on geospatial data and services to build the next generation of HERE's automated core map data processing environments.
• Develop and implement new methods for evaluating geographic data, finding metrics to describe them, and integrating research outcomes into the map updating processes.
• Work with a large quantity of data sources to keep our map up-to-date, verifying and quality approving incoming data streams to find relevant updates for building the best map.
• Collaborate with our team of research engineers to introduce latest research methods to build the maps of the future.

Requirements

• You are a student looking for a thesis topic in an intercultural engineering team of map makers.
• You have a background in computer science, data science, geo information science, geography, spatial statistics, computational geometry, or any related science.
• You have practical skills in at least one of the following tools/languages: R, Python, Scala, Java, and also have experience with relational databases and SQL.
• You are familiar with QGIS or ArcGIS and know about maps and the importance of location.
• You are highly motivated to run a research topic in a tech company within an intercultural and interdisciplinary team of research engineers.

Location

We are open to hiring in Germany (Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin), the Netherlands (Eindhoven), and Poland (Krakow). For Germany, it is a 20hrs/week contract for 6 months for a working student or for 40 hours/week for an Internship (only if it is mandatory)/Master Thesis for 3-6 months. For Krakow, it can be for 3 months for 40hrs/week or for 6 months for 20hrs/week.
