Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Machine Learning Intern to join our team. As a Machine Learning Intern, you will be responsible for developing and implementing machine learning models in PyTorch to enable construction domain experts to create complex use cases efficiently.

You will work closely with our team of experienced ML engineers to design, experiment, and implement state-of-the-art machine learning components that effectively address customer KPIs. Your tasks will include extracting and pre-processing data from transactional documents, collaborating with ML engineers on model design and implementation, and proposing and implementing iterative improvements.

As a Machine Learning Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from document understanding and information extraction to OCR and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) with large-language models. You will also be responsible for proposing and implementing metrics to evaluate relevant KPIs and integrating the solutions to a common codebase.

Requirements
  • Pursuing a PhD / Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field enrolled in a German or EU university
  • Experience in implementing machine learning models in PyTorch, specifically Large Language Models
  • Experience with document understanding
  • Experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Experience with OCR methods, OCR-free document understanding methods, e.g., Visual Document Question Answering (visual doc-QA) and Information Extraction
  • Proficient in Python and good software engineering skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Eligible to work in Germany
