Correctional Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Correctional Nurse Specialist to join our team in providing high-quality healthcare services to offenders in a correctional facility setting.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a corrections or law enforcement environment and possess strong nursing skills, including evidence-based care, medication administration, and first aid.

• Provide total health care to offenders, maintaining continuity of care from admission to discharge
• Safe medication administration following DOC policy
• Employee health services in accordance with policy

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school
• A valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license
• Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals
• Experience in carrying out provider's orders in applying treatments
• Maintaining appropriate documentation
• Competent first aid skills
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Experience working in a corrections or law enforcement environment is preferred. Experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical care is also desirable.

This wage position offers no state benefits but provides a competitive salary range of $ $63,434 - $83,433 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
