Ph.D. Researcher in AI for Additive Manufacturing in Construction

About the Position

The Chair of Computational Modeling and Simulation at the Technical University of Munich is seeking a Ph.D. Researcher to contribute to a research project focused on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Additive Manufacturing for Construction.

Research Focus

The project aims to explore predictive methods using AI to anticipate outcomes in Additive Manufacturing, addressing the challenge of inconsistency in produced entities' quality in terms of geometry and properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate AI/ML methods for predicting Additive Manufacturing results
  • Prototype development and testing
  • Literature review and analysis
  • Publication and presentation of scientific findings in international conferences and journals
  • Contribution to the group's teaching and research activities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Background in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Proficient in Python programming
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras

Desirable Skills

  • Scientific publications
  • Experience with ML models and methods (CNNs, LSTMs, Attention Networks, GNNs)
