Electrical Project Engineer Role
You will work as a Senior Electrical Project Engineer for the Electrical System & Project Engineering Region 1 Team, part of the RWE Renewables' Offshore Wind Engineering Department. You will lead electrical engineering tasks on our Offshore Substations and also support projects in development and construction.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a robust through-life design leading on all aspects of the electrical components and the overall electrical system of an offshore substation.
- Develop, draft, and technically manage specifications for tenders. Support technical negotiations with selected suppliers.
- Focus on interface topics and auxiliary systems.
- Coordinate the support of other experts and Electrical Engineers within the department with a focus on Components, Power System Analysis, and SCADA systems.
- Lead supplier pre-qualifications and audits.
- Technically manage electrical works on project construction sites.
- Conduct or lead internal and external research projects.
Your Ideal Profile:
- Minimum 4 years of experience with offshore substations on offshore wind projects, ideally having worked in the same role through the negotiation and construction phases of an offshore wind project.
- Degree in electrical power engineering from a university or university of applied sciences.
- Practical knowledge and experience are crucial for the role. Experience as an apprentice and having worked as a technician/electrician prior to obtaining the university degree would be desirable.
- Good knowledge of the electrical plant, including switchgear, power transformers, protection, LV, and auxiliary systems (advantageous: with one of these topics as a specialist).
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
- Experience in specification drafting as well as liaising and negotiating with suppliers.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills, highly motivated, confident, and resourceful.
