Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Master student to join our team at Forschungszentrum Jülich. As a Master Thesis Researcher, you will be involved in the investigation of electrochemical processes in solid oxide fuel cells and electrolysis cells.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deepen your skills in the manufacturing process of thin films using techniques such as Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD).
  • Conduct electrochemical experiments and characterization using methods such as Current-voltage characteristics, Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and Voltage-time curves.
  • Study the properties of materials using techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Dilatometry, Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX), and X-ray photon spectroscopy (XPS).

Requirements:

  • Master studies in physics, chemistry, or materials science.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals and applications of electrochemistry.
  • Experience in the manufacturing process of thin films (ALD, PVD) is required.
  • Practical experience in preferably several of the above task areas.
  • Good computer skills; experience in Python as a programming language is advantageous.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, as well as having fun to work as part of a team.
  • Fluent English and good German skills in writing and language.
