Procurement Specialist III

About the JobThe City of Gainesville is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist III to join our team. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for purchasing supplies, materials, and equipment for various departments and utilities.
This role requires advanced work in purchasing, with a focus on complex tasks and higher-level responsibilities. You will work closely with supervisors and other teams to achieve goals and objectives.
The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a large-scale public sector environment. A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, or a related field is also required.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review documents for bid solicitations, quotes, proposals, and requests for qualifications
- Conduct bid openings, tabulate responses, and assist with issuing Notice of Award or Recommendations of Final Ranking
- Prepare and issue purchase orders for commodities and services
- Work closely with assigned departments to develop procurement strategies
- Audit purchase orders prepared by non-Procurement Division personnel for accuracy and compliance
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, or a related field
- At least 7 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a large-scale public sector environment
- Certification from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing or other nationally recognized agency preferred
- Valid Florida Driver License
