Contribute to the development of sustainable technologies at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) by working on a numerical simulation project for a solar reactor. The goal is to produce renewable hydrogen efficiently.
We are looking for a Master student in computational engineering, mathematics, or a related field to join our team. The ideal candidate will have skills in numerical modeling, programming, and thermal and mass transport mechanisms.
As a member of our team, you will work on the development of a numerical reactor model to simulate heat and mass transport during cyclic reactor operation. You will also conduct literature research to understand the cyclic process and transport mechanisms.
Our team is passionate about making renewable energy resources available to replace fossil resources. We develop solutions for the production of hydrogen and fuels from renewable energies.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop a numerical reactor model for the simulation of heat and mass transport during cyclic reactor operation
- Conduct literature research to understand the cyclic process and transport mechanisms
- Validate the model using experimental results and compare it with other reactor types from the literature
- Optimize the design and operation conditions of the reactor using a parameter study
Requirements:
- Master's degree in computational engineering, mathematics, or a related field
- Skills in numerical modeling, programming, and thermal and mass transport mechanisms
- Experience with OpenFOAM and CAD-modeling is beneficial
- Good communication skills in an international work environment
- Fluent English language skills
