We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join our team at Hochschule Furtwangen. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the field of cell biology, with a focus on metabolic signaling molecules released by dying cells.

The project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), aims to identify biologically active metabolites secreted during different forms of cell death and their effects on other cells. The researcher will employ state-of-the-art methods, including cell cultivation, microfluidic systems, multiparameter flow cytometry, and ion mobility coupled mass spectrometry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Cultivating primary cell models and executing experiments under standard culture conditions or microfluidic setups
  • Applying multiparametric flow cytometric methods and molecular biological assays
  • Collaborating in project management, including reporting and presenting project results
  • Participating in daily laboratory organization

We are looking for a candidate with a scientific university degree (Bachelor or Master) or technical training in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioanalytics, biotechnology, pharmacy, molecular medicine, or related subjects. Experience in human cell cultivation, classical molecular biology methods, flow cytometry, microfluidics, liquid chromatography, extraction methods for metabolites, bioinformatics tools, mass spectrometry, or statistical analysis of metabolomics datasets is an advantage.

The ideal candidate will have good written and spoken English and German language skills. We offer a stimulating position with diverse tasks, working as part of a motivated and open team, and enjoying the numerous benefits offered by a position within the German civil service system.
