The City of Tucson is seeking a highly skilled Budget Analyst to join our Business Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in assisting with the preparation and monitoring of budgets, ensuring that expenditures align with financial goals and constraints.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of overall budgets, making recommendations by researching, documenting, and reviewing department budgets.
- Compile and analyze both statistical and fiscal data as the basis for preparing specific schedules, tables, and summaries.
- Review and process budget transfer requests and budget amendments while evaluating and responding to budget requests.
- Assist in researching economic influences in the City's revenues and expenditures.
- Provide support to budgeting platform users, including finance staff and City stakeholders.
- Assist with producing short-term, mid-term, and long-term forecasts.
- Draft budget memorandums, reports, and presentations for review.
- Maintain files and documents.
- Assist departments in understanding and adhering to budget guidelines.
- Support budget monitoring and forecasting activities, such as cost-benefit analysis, variance analysis, and scenario analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Two (2) years of directly related experience.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in budgeting software and financial analysis tools.
