About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estate Surveyor to join our team at the Ministry of Defence. As a key member of our Estates team, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining our overseas landholdings, ensuring that our Defence estate is safe, secure, and compliant with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of surveyors and support staff to deliver a range of programmes and services, including land management, property maintenance, and conservation works.
  • Negotiate and manage lease agreements, rent reviews, and other land-related contracts with local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the delivery of an annual maintenance programme, including proactive and reactive conservation and maintenance works, with budgetary responsibility for the locally employed Land Management Team.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms, environmental regulations, and cultural heritage designations, including Natura 2000 and the European Habitats Directives.
  • Advise on access to the estate, maintenance, and third-party use agreements, including range roads, footpaths, and bridleways.
  • Respond to day-to-day property-related enquiries, providing expert advice on estate maintenance, agricultural use, forestry, and protecting the integrity of the Defence Estate.
Requirements
  • Full membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS)
  • RICS accredited Degree or Qualification
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Desirable languages: German
