The Global Expansion team is a cross-functional group of talented individuals responsible for bringing SumUp to new markets. The Expansion Platform & Experiences (EP&E) squad is part of this team, aiming to accelerate SumUp's success by reducing time to market and adapting products to local contexts.

The SumUp app is a primary tool for our merchants. When entering a new region, we collaborate with other teams to implement new features, update translations, adapt user interfaces, and prepare the app for different devices.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mobile Engineer to contribute to the EP&E squad. You will work primarily on the Android platform, adding new features and ensuring the app runs smoothly on custom Android builds. We will also support your growth in iOS skills, collaborating with other teams through code reviews, architecture discussions, and feature implementation.

As part of the company's Mobile Chapter, you will learn from others and share your knowledge. Our team is based in Berlin, but we are open to hiring in Cologne if we find the right candidate. This person must have the possibility to travel to Berlin regularly (approximately once a month).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the launch of SumUp in new markets by adapting the Super App to meet regulatory requirements for financial institutions.
  • Help with automated localization for both mobile apps, including adapting the UI to support other languages.
  • Develop new features in the Super App to offer a better experience for merchants and ensure better product-market fit.
  • Develop and maintain a new build of the app to run on third-party Android-powered devices.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in Android development (Kotlin) and the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Interest in learning to develop features for the iOS application or experience with Swift.
  • Modularized architecture is a strength area.
  • Collaboration with multiple teams and stakeholders, building bridges across the organization.
  • Mentoring others and making an impact on their careers.
