Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) to work on global energy transition modeling. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and application of the REMIND model, a leading integrated assessment model for climate change research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the global energy transition scenario analysis with the REMIND model.
  • Develop and validate the global REMIND model in collaboration with other researchers.
  • Analyze sector transitions in the context of national and international climate policy efforts and technological progress.
  • Participate in international research efforts to explore energy transformation pathways in line with the Paris Climate Goals.
  • Collaborate with national and global modeling teams and participate in stakeholder dialogues.

Requirements:

  • Post-graduate degree (PhD/Dr) in economics, physics, mathematics, engineering, operations research, environmental sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience with integrated assessment modeling of climate change.
  • Excellent analytical skills and interest in theoretical and applied modeling.
  • Programming experience, knowledge of R and/or GAMS are assets.
  • Demonstrated experience in publishing and presenting scientific work.
