Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team at Ucaneo, focusing on enabling an exponential data-driven learning curve through a digital twin and empiric validation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in IoT development, firmware/software development, cloud integration, and modeling, as well as proficiency in programming languages commonly used in IoT applications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring a scalable data platform for real-time tracking to ensure data-driven learning curve of a hardware industrial product based on a digital twin
  • Designing a sensor system to observe relevant data and allow for monitoring, predictive maintenance, and long-term data storage
  • Driving the computational model together with our process engineer to develop a data-driven testing strategy to optimize our process
  • Allocating budget for hardware and software components, managing external collaboration with academic or industrial partners, and proposing and aligning goals and work packages regarding IoT
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • University degree in Electronical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Proven experience (>5 years) in IoT development, firmware/software development, cloud integration, and modeling
  • Experience in setting up cloud data infrastructure and data management
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in IoT applications, such as C/C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript
  • Hands-on experience with sensor technologies and protocols (e.g., MQTT, Modbus, LoRaWAN), as well as IoT platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT)
  • Created models or digital twins of industrial products with a chemical process at the core, ideally previous collaboration with process engineers
  • Ideally experience with industrial products at container scale and hardware startups
  • Experience in upward and downward management, team leadership, and cross-sectional team constellations
