About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team at Applied Materials. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design and development of parts, assemblies, and modules for our electron microscopes and adjacent hardware needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-precision optomechanical systems for cleanroom environments, high-voltage design, vacuum systems, and cooling systems.
  • Author technical drawings, define fabrication processes, materials, and finishing standards with detailed Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and perform complex tolerance analysis.
  • Design and execute experiments to validate design concepts and troubleshoot issues.
  • Lead the mechanical aspects of the development process, present design reviews, and collaborate with team members from different disciplines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Precision Engineering or equivalent degree with at least 5-7 years of work experience.
  • Fluent German and good English skills, both written and spoken.
  • Proficient with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Skilled in GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Knowledge in the operation of Inventor, TeamCenter, and System Analysis Program Development (SAP) or similar is desirable.
  • Team player able to work in large, multi-disciplinary teams with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with CAE software for structural, modal, thermal, and flow analysis.
