About our client

Our client is a pioneering venture capital fund, focusing on innovative start-ups in the GreenTech and FoodTech sectors in Europe and the US. They are seeking a seasoned Head of Finance to drive their growth journey. The position is based in Berlin and offers flexibility for remote work.

Key responsibilities
  • Oversee all internal accounting, tax, and financial reporting processes and policies for funds and the management entity, with a focus on portfolio financial reporting, quarterly portfolio company reporting, and valuations.
  • Manage treasury and tax-related matters across the management entity and funds, working closely with external parties.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that could impact fund performance.
  • Support the investment team in financial due diligence, taking ownership of financial aspects and contributing to exit strategy scenarios.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent accounting treatment of investments and transactions.
  • Oversee firm administrative and office needs, including IT, facilities, office leases, supply agreements, and office management.


Requirements
  • University degree in finance, business studies, or related disciplines.
  • Previous experience in finance or investment operations within venture capital is ideal.
  • Several years of experience in audit or transaction services at a Big 4 firm is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Self-organized and self-motivated, with a result-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong work ethic, no ego, and willingness to roll up sleeves.
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong interest in pre-seed and venture capital investing, with a good understanding of venture capital investing is advantageous.
  • Fluent in English and German.
