PhD Position in Molecular Evolution

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD candidate to join our research team at the Technical University of Munich. Our lab is focused on understanding the origins of life and the evolution of complex molecules.
Project OverviewOur project aims to investigate the formation of coacervate droplets, which are clusters of RNA and positively charged peptides. These droplets can support internal reactions involving RNA and ribozymes, and we will use microfluidic devices to study their properties and behavior.
Key Responsibilities- Design and conduct experiments to study coacervate formation and properties
- Analyze data and develop new methods for characterizing coacervate behavior
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement new research ideas
- Present research findings at conferences and in publications
- Master's degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or biotechnology
- Experience with ribozymes, RNA work, microfluidics, and microscopy
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
We offer a 65% position as academic staff with the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree. The position will be limited to three years, and payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L).
