Research Associate in Active Flow Control

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified research associate to join our team at the Institute of Aerodynamics and Gas Dynamics at the Universität Stuttgart. The successful candidate will contribute to an exciting research project focused on the application of reinforcement learning strategies for active flow control and modeling in complex turbulent flows.

The research associate will be responsible for:

  • Simulating complex turbulent flows using advanced numerical methods
  • Implementing reinforcement learning strategies for flow control and modeling
  • Developing discretization-consistent control and model strategies

The position is a full-time scientific employee with payment in accordance with TV-L E13. The employment is initially limited to three years, but an extension beyond this period is possible.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in engineering or related fields, preferably with a background in numerical methods for PDEs, machine learning, or turbulent flows
  • Fluency in either German or English (written and oral)
