Baringa is a global consulting firm that empowers businesses to drive transformation and achieve their goals. As an LNG Trading Expert, you will be part of our Commodity and Energy Trading practice in Germany, supporting leading commodity traders across the full gas and LNG value chain.

About the Role

Our team helps clients navigate the challenges and opportunities brought by the energy transition. We work closely with clients worldwide to translate strategy into action and revolutionize their trading businesses and IT landscapes. As an LNG Trading Expert, you will be involved in strategically significant client transformation projects, primarily in the UK and Europe, with opportunities to work on global initiatives.

We are seeking individuals with a passion for LNG, gas, and clean fuels, who can collaborate with clients face-to-face to help solve their key challenges. From launching a new LNG trading business to implementing integrated trading systems, our team is committed to delivering exceptional results in challenging, client-facing environments.

What You Will Be Doing
  • New trading business: Establishing a LNG trading organization, navigating market reforms, and developing strategies for delivering net zero targets.
  • Business restructuring and operational excellence: Designing and implementing operating models for complex global organizations that cover the full trading and commodity lifecycle. Reviewing and redesigning process models to achieve industry-leading levels of excellence.
  • Digital Transformation: Working with clients to mature their digital capabilities and embed ML and AI into their architectures, including improving commercial decision-making and trader decision support tooling.
  • Risk Advisory: Helping organizations strengthen their risk management frameworks; analyzing and designing risk mitigation strategies; improving governance and reporting; and implementing best practice solutions for risk management.
Your Skills and Experience

We are looking for people across all different levels of experience, from senior consultants with a few years under their belt to experienced senior managers and directors with several years of project delivery experience.

Here are some of the key skills and requirements we look for:

  • Trading Experience: Knowledge of global supply and demand factors that influence LNG prices, including key exporting and importing regions, trade routes, and seasonal demand variations. Familiarity with different types of LNG contracts, such as long-term contracts, spot contracts, and short-term agreements. Understanding of pricing mechanisms, including oil-linked pricing, gas-on-gas pricing, and hybrid models. Knowledge of major LNG pricing benchmarks, such as JKM (Japan Korea Marker), TTF (Title Transfer Facility), and Henry Hub, and how they influence global trade.
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Proven track record of managing end-to-end project lifecycles. Adaptability to key roles across the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Business Analysis: Expertise in shaping processes and solutions, capturing business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements.
  • Digital Transformation: Experience in the development and delivery of digital trading consulting capabilities, including data-driven trading.
  • Project/Program Management: Proficiency in project/program management and/or Agile delivery.
  • Data Strategy and Management: Strong skills in data strategy, architecture, and management.
  • Client-Facing Delivery: The ability to take ownership and deliver results in challenging, client-facing environments.
  • Essential: Advanced (C1) language skills in German and English.
Estimated Salary Range

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
