PhD Position in Grid Resilience and Flexibility Analysis

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at Forschungszentrum Jülich to work on a cutting-edge project focused on grid resilience and flexibility analysis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative solutions for the future of electrical distribution grids.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct a comprehensive study on the flexibility of electrical distribution grids, evaluating various scenarios and their impacts
- Design and develop a geo-referenced synthetic distribution grid generation tool
- Design and implement different model configurations to simulate various grid configurations and assess their performance
- Investigate and apply optimization methods to improve grid resilience and flexibility
- Apply advanced data analytical techniques to analyze simulation findings and draw significant insights
- Determine cost-effective methods for grid reinforcement through performance evaluations
- Present research findings at conferences, publish articles in high-impact journals, and actively contribute to the wider scientific community
We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual with a strong background in electrical engineering, energy systems, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree, excellent knowledge of electrical networks analysis and simulations, and experience in data analysis and programming (preferably Python). Additionally, the candidate should have good communication skills, be able to work independently and collaboratively, and have a strong interest in energy systems analysis, integration of renewable energy sources, and grid resilience.
