Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior 5G Software Engineer to join our team at Rivada Space Networks GmbH. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in the software design, development, and integration of advanced satellite communication systems with 5G technology.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Lead the 5G tech stack design in the overall software architecture, considering scalability, interoperability, performance, and security.
  2. Design, develop, and optimize software for 5G-enabled satellite communication user terminals.
  3. Implement 3GPP standards, protocols, and features in the development of these software solutions.
  4. Integrate open-source 5G Core Network platforms with satellite communication systems to ensure robust and reliable connectivity.
  5. Collaborate with engineering teams, product managers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to define software requirements and specifications.
  6. Perform feasibility studies, simulations, and testing to validate software designs and performance.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues related to 5G and satellite communications.
  8. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior software engineers and team members.
  9. Stay abreast of the latest developments in 5G, satellite communications, 3GPP standards, and open-source 5G Core Network platforms to drive innovation within the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Telecommunications.
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering for telecommunications, with a focus on 5G networks and technology.
  • Applied experience in 3GPP Releases 16/17/18 standards, protocols, and features.
  • Experience with open-source 5G platforms such as Open5GS, srsRAN, or OpenAirInterface.
  • Experience with software-defined radio (SDR) and network function virtualization (NFV).
  • Knowledge of IoT and its integration with 5G and satellite communications.
  • Strong programming skills in languages including C/C++, Python, or Java.
  • Proficiency in software testing, integration, and validation processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience in agile development methodologies and tools, as well as in DevOps practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work within a team, including organization and coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
