Our client is a leading international automotive lubricants company seeking an experienced Technical Support Manager to join their team in Germany. With ambitious growth plans, they are looking for talented individuals who can make a significant impact in the industry and communities they serve.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide field-based technical support and advice to customers and other business partners, as well as support other functions such as Sales and Marketing with technical-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-class technical support to Sales, distributors, customers, OEMs, and GAs.
- Utilize commercial awareness to extend and uplift business opportunities.
- Own the Technical Account Plan (P5).
- Develop and maintain technical networks within customer organizations.
- Have deep knowledge of products and services, as well as their applications.
- Recommend products and services, substituting competitor products, and selecting the best products and services for customer applications.
- Provide customer benefit solutions based on own knowledge and experience.
- Plan and deliver customer trainings and presentations.
- Support plant audits, field trials, OEM management, and complex technical issues.
- Support relevant customer events, such as product launches, customer days, and campaigns.
- Provide market feedback from customers and OEMs to R&T through the Product Technology Manager.
- Provide Sales with relevant information on potential sales opportunities.
- Be involved in quality issues, mainly customer quality complaints.
- Know when and whom to escalate complex technical issues beyond own competence and skills.
- Act and behave in line with values and procedures, adhering to local regulations and QHSE rules.
Key Challenges
- Proper customer and OEM management based on understanding customer type and background.
- Speak customer language, using solution benefit approach rather than product features, and creating advanced solutions utilizing technology, products, and services.
- Keep the right balance between technical solutions and commercial aspects.
- Proper prioritization and planning of own tasks, aligning with Sales priorities.
- Proper understanding of customer needs through relevant tools.
- Understanding own capability and limitations in handling complex queries and making proper escalation.
Key Skills
- 1+ years of lubricants or other relevant experience (3+ years for L2).
- Customer-facing experience is beneficial.
- Language skills: XXX, English. Others are beneficial.
- Superior communication skills (written and verbal), good presentation skills.
- Deep product and application knowledge, good commercial awareness.
