Job Title: Software Architect

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Architect to join our team at Aesculap AG – part of the B. Braun Group in Freiburg. As a Software Architect, you will play a key role in shaping the software architecture, technical requirements, and formal documentation for our commercial medical products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Shape the software architecture, technical requirements, and formal documentation together with the team to ensure effective performance.
  • Guide the team in software architecture workshops and develop solutions together.
  • Focus on creating state-of-the-art, high-quality software architecture and documentation aligned with the project's goals and the company's vision.
  • Ensure design decisions are documented.
  • Regularly participate in development teams to maintain a close connection to the team and the code.
  • Collaborate with scrum teams, working closely with software developers, software architects, system engineers, UX engineers, quality engineers, and product owners.

Requirements:
  • Profound engineering background with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills on technical solutions in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Several years of C++ development experience and knowledge about modern C++.
  • Practical knowledge in creating software architectures for complex systems.
  • Experience with IEC and similar norms, Linux, ROS2, and/or distributed systems.
  • Experience with technologies such as C++, JavaScript, Python, Qt, OpenCV, ROS2, GTest/GMock, Git, Azure DevOps, Linux, and RT Linux.
  • Valuable working experience in regulated fields such as medical, aerospace, or automotive.
  • Software architecture certifications such as iSAQB-CPSA-F/A or similar.

  • Hands-on doer and interdisciplinary networker.
  • Innovation mindset with enthusiasm for high-tech medical products.
  • Fluent communication in English. Knowledge of German is a plus.
