Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented student to assist the university instructor of the Department of Sociology in teaching and research. The successful candidate will contribute to researching and obtaining literature, data collection, maintenance, and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Locate, collect, harmonize, and systematize historical data from primary sources using statistical software.
  • Assist in making analyses and contribute to research projects.
  • Support the instructor in teaching and research activities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with working with quantitative data and historical data sources.
  • Knowledge of descriptive statistics and statistical software (e.g. R, Stata, Python).
  • Interest in economic sociology and political economy, particularly in the sociology of insurance and climate change.
  • Knowledge of more than one European language other than English and prior experience with archival work is an advantage.

Requirements:

  • BA or MA students in North American Studies (with an interest in sociology), BA/MA students in sociology or related social sciences (esp. economics, history).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
