Renewable Energy Project Lead

At Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel, we are seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Project Lead to join our team. As a key member of our onshore renewable energy business, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of photovoltaic (PV) projects in Germany.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review energy yield calculations using PVSYST software.
  • Conduct due diligence for PV projects, focusing on energy assessment, design, feasibility, and engineering issues.
  • Support the development and early-stage projects with conceptual designs.
  • Analyze sites focusing on engineering issues, including visits to the sites, to design and build a PV plant.
  • Develop PV plant designs, optimize them, and calculate PV plant electrical configurations.
  • Develop solar PV design packages, including solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, and equipment mounting details for utility-scale solar PV systems with support from external engineering firms.
  • Develop requirements for SCADA and communication solar PV plant facilities.
  • Estimate inverter MVA for reactive power requirements.
  • Take engineering lead on solar-specific projects, including bid development, contract review, progress tracking, and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Supervise EPC works, focusing on engineering issues.
  • Support the implementation of new trends, such as batteries and hybrid solutions, for the pipeline.
  • Represent the company with relevant stakeholders, including agencies and institutions, on matters related to its responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a similar field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in engineering photovoltaic projects in Germany.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with PVSYST software, with expertise in using it.
  • Experience in batteries projects is a plus.

Desirable Skills:

  • Design of photovoltaic plants, including production analysis, electrical, and civil works.
  • Knowledge of new trends in PV main equipment (modules, inverters, fix structure/tracker).
  • Knowledge of contracting topographic and geotechnical campaigns is a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction of photovoltaic plants is a plus.
  • Knowledge of communications and SCADA systems is a plus.
  • Experience working with certification companies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of grid regulation is a plus.
  • Experience in getting through Germany's Administration licensing process for renewable projects is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in working with international project teams in diverse and complex working environments is a plus.
  • Extensive portfolio of industry contacts is a plus.
