Job Description

**Job Title:** Experienced Stress Engineer - Airframe & System Development

**Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced stress engineer to join our team at Flightjobs/DVV Media. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and analyzing airframe and system structures, ensuring they meet the required strength and fatigue standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform design calculations using manual methodologies and finite element methods (FEM) to ensure airframe and system structures meet strength and fatigue requirements.
  • Develop and release proof reports for static strength and fatigue, and create test programs and test orders.
  • Supervise tests to prove service life, inspection, and maintenance intervals.
  • Conduct structural analyses and strength calculations during various development phases, from concept to detailed design, to optimize design for strength, service life, weight, and costs.
  • Support approval processes, including incorporating proof documentation into the approval database (Nectar).
  • Process construction deviations, including defining rework and repairs.
  • Process customer service requests.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Engineering degree (Master's or Diploma) or Aerospace degree (Master's or Diploma).
  • Completed Bachelor's degree with additional subject-specific experience and further training.

Experience:

  • Aerospace experience (at least 3 years).
  • Several years of practical experience in statics and fatigue in the aerospace sector.
  • Very good knowledge of pre-dimensioning and dimensioning of subsystems/components (metal and composite materials).
  • Experience in verification and approval process of CS 27/29.
  • Mastery of standard manual methods (Niu, Bruhn, HSB, etc.).
  • Experience in testing (coupon and component tests).
  • Good knowledge of general structural requirements for aircraft (flight, landing, fatigue loads, bird strike, damage tolerance, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of metal and composite materials (i.e., understanding of relevant dimensioning methodology, failure modes, production process, and its impact on mechanical properties).

IT Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of linear/non-linear FEM methods (Hyperworks, NASTRAN, Optistruct).
  • Basic experience with Python or similar.

Language Skills:

  • Fluent in German.
  • Fluent in English.

Legal Requirements:

  • EU passport or work permit required.
