ProPharma Group is a leading research consulting organization that empowers biotech, med device, and pharmaceutical organizations to advance scientific breakthroughs and introduce new therapies.

The company is seeking a Senior Accountant/Controller to join its Finance team in Germany.

The Senior Accountant role is responsible for financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reviewing and approving transactions.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Finance team in all accounting and administrative activities.
  • Taking responsibility for local financial ledgers.
  • Working with the Finance Manager on the monthly closing cycle.
  • Generating month-end reports for accounting, including close and reconcile accounts payable and employee expense sub-ledgers monthly, month-end financial statement review, and month-end preparation of adjusting journal entries.
  • Reviewing and approving AP, payroll, and invoicing transactions.
  • Providing monthly payroll information to the external payroll vendor, reviewing payroll output received, and making necessary accounting transactions.
  • Checking bank account journal entries.
  • Creating and submitting monthly VAT declarations.
  • Leading year-end financial audit.
  • Sending email reminders to employees and contractors to complete time and expense reports.
  • Maintaining and updating vendor service agreements.
  • Year-end work and financial statements.

Requirements for the role include:

  • Experience with business administration (Workday) is a plus.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of advanced accounting principles, including German Handelsrecht.
  • Demonstrating a good understanding of German tax law, focusing on VAT tax law.
  • Proficiency with general ledger account reconciliation.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment.
  • Fluency in German and English.
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics.
  • Proven experience in local financial accounts (GAAP).
