Safety Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Manager to join our team at LyondellBasell. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) aspects of contractor management, ensuring effective communication of HSE topics to contractors, and managing HSE aspects at the Contractor Safety Board.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HSE strategies for contractor management, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Collaborate with contractors to ensure effective communication of HSE topics, including training and awareness programs.
- Manage HSE aspects at the Contractor Safety Board, ensuring that all contractors are aware of and comply with HSE regulations.
- Develop and implement processes for contractor selection, auditing, onboarding, and assessment, ensuring that all contractors meet HSE standards.
- Ensure effective communication with safety officers of contractors, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Lead HSE efforts in major projects and turnarounds, working closely with project and turnaround management teams.
- Develop and implement HSE strategies for major projects and turnarounds, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Serve as liaison in internal and external turnaround audits, ensuring that all HSE aspects are properly addressed.
- Lead safety contractors during turnarounds and projects, ensuring that all HSE aspects are properly managed.
- Develop and implement processes for sustainable learning from experience in turnarounds and projects, ensuring that all lessons learned are properly documented and shared.
- Take on project manager role when major system changes are needed to ensure compliance to external and internal standards related to contractor safety.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in safety engineering or a comparable discipline.
- At least 3 years of work experience in projects and/or turnarounds within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- Training as safety officer (Sicherheitsfachkraft gemäß ArbSichG).
- Knowledge of IT tools Impact and Investigation tools.
- Fluency in German and English, written and spoken.
- Strong analytical thinking, creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful.
- Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, within and across functions.
- Strong and effective communication skills.
