Software Engineer for Environmental Data Visualization

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team at the Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung GmbH – UFZ. As a Software Engineer for Visualisation Research, you will be responsible for developing and implementing visualisation tools and techniques to support our research projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop 3D and 4D visualisation studies and digital twins of research sites using Unity or VTK/ParaView
- Work on data processing, visualisation, and animation for research projects dealing with geothermal research or energy storage
- Research and evaluate suitable visualisation methods and GUI/interaction design
- Communicate research results to scientists, stakeholders, or the public through scientific articles, reports, evaluation studies, videos, or interactive prototypes
- University degree (Master) in a project-related field (computer science or engineering sciences)
- Experience with Unity projects and extending the functionality of Unity via C#
- Experience with VTK or ParaView and extending ParaView using Python scripts
- Proficiency in a programming language, with C# and Python being advantageous
