The Role:
We are seeking a Process Safety Engineer who will be responsible for conducting thorough risk assessments, identifying potential hazards, and implementing effective safety measures to protect our processes and employees. This role requires utilizing specialized software tools to assess risks efficiently and communicate findings to site management. The engineer will also assist with the implementation of safety measures at various sites in Germany and Switzerland, requiring regular travel between the two countries.
This position is crucial in identifying safety gaps and ensuring continuous improvement of process safety standards.
You Will Make an Impact by:
- Risk Analysis and Mitigation: Conducting Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and Layer of Protection Analyses (LOPAs) to identify risks in our processes and develop suitable safety measures.
- Analysis Software Utilization: Using specialized software (e.g., Sphera Advanced Risk Assessment, ARA) to perform risk analyses efficiently and accurately.
- Reporting and Communication: Documenting analysis results, discussing them with site managers, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Safety Gap Identification: Identifying when critical safety information is missing and supporting sites in obtaining this information.
- Improvement Measure Development: Proposing concrete solutions to close safety gaps and monitoring their implementation.
- Site Support: Assisting site teams with the practical implementation of safety measures and recommendations.
- Prioritization and Cost-Efficiency: Working with site management to ensure that safety measures are prioritized effectively and implemented in a cost-efficient manner.
- Training and Consulting: Providing process safety training and advising our sites and partner companies on safety-related topics.
Catalyst for Change: To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent vocational training.
- Several years of professional experience in the chemical industry.
- One or more years of PHA and LOPA facilitation experience.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., COMAH) and industry standards (e.g., NFPA, API, ASME, IEC).
- A dynamic, hands-on mentality.
- Reliability, teamwork skills, and a high sense of responsibility.
- A good command of both German and English languages.
