Job Overview

This role is responsible for leading the development and implementation of EMBL's EDI strategy across all sites, working closely with leadership, staff, and external partners to drive a culture of inclusivity and equality.

About the Role

You will lead a small team and work collaboratively with HR and other stakeholders to deliver the strategic direction of EDI, including developing and implementing EDI plans, policies, and procedures. Your expertise will inform evidence-based policy recommendations and help create a safe and empowered environment where everyone can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement EMBL's EDI strategy, working closely with leadership and staff across all sites
  • Chair EMBL's Equality and Diversity and Inclusion Forum, convening and minuting meetings and coordinating activities of its networks and working groups
  • Work closely with the EDI Governing Body and HR Team to develop talent pipelines, diversity metrics, and reports; integrate EDI principles in hiring, onboarding, training, and career development processes
  • Represent EMBL at external events and meetings, networking to understand best practices in EDI and bring them back into the organisation
  • Lead on implementing EMBL's EDI Strategy to deliver a culture where people feel safe and empowered to achieve their full potential

Requirements

  • University degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • A strong track record of project delivery in the field of EDI with an intersectional approach
  • Knowledgeable of applicable laws and regulations related to diversity, equality, and inclusion
  • Experience providing expert guidance in EDI to leadership, faculty, and staff
  • Numerate with strong skills in using Excel and presenting data and statistics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels and build a culture of inclusivity

What We Offer

Contract duration: 5 years (renewable up to 9 years)

Grading: Grade 7 (Monthly salary starting at €5,117 after tax but excluding pension & insurances) + benefits
