Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam. The successful candidate will be part of our Earth Surface Process Modeling (ESPM) group, where they will work on developing and applying coupled numerical models of life and landscape evolution to interpret genetic and taxonomic data from hyper-arid regions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply numerical models to study the evolution of landscapes and life in hyper-arid regions
  • Collaborate with other researchers to test the impact of tectonic regimes on biodiversity
  • Quantify the relationships between vegetation, river discharge, and erosion patterns in dry climates
  • Further develop and refine the models
  • Present research findings at scientific meetings and in publications
Requirements
  • PhD in Biological Sciences or Earth Sciences
  • Demonstrable knowledge of biogeography and phylogenetics
  • Experience with numerical modeling and programming languages
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
