Energy Optimization Algorithm Developer

We are revolutionizing the energy strategies of manufacturing companies to drastically reduce global carbon emissions. Our software, founded on groundbreaking research from Stanford and RWTH Aachen, enables enterprise companies like BMW to navigate the new volatile energy world and transition to new energy technologies effectively and affordably. With our core system, we have demonstrated to save individual DAX companies hundreds of millions in their energy budget.

We are looking for a backend developer with deep knowledge in the development of optimization algorithms who is impact driven and brings fresh ideas. Continuous improvement of our algorithms is crucial for us to create the product for the impact we want to have on the world. As a Backend developer, you would work on our algorithms and set up new services, APIs, and databases. You would work in close collaboration with the product team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new algorithms to extend the energy decision making capabilities of our software
  • Extend our Energy System Model
  • Develop APIs.
  • Be versatile and enthusiastic about improving and challenging our current algorithms
Requirements
  • You have a Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge in optimization algorithms
  • You have experience with complex algorithms and in troubleshooting problems across services and functional areas.
  • You ideally have experience in Julia, Python or comparable programming languages such as R.
  • You are not too shy to write tests and are familiar with CI/CD Tools (Github Actions).
  • You love to share your thoughts and grow with others.

Our approach is straightforward and quick. We've broken it down into three steps, each allowing you to contact us with any questions or concerns.

This is what the individual steps look like:

  1. Initial chat: to get to know each other, understand the current situation, and your expectations with one of our Founders (30 min)
  2. Take home challenge followed by live technical interview: to test your abilities and learn more about your technical skills with Niklas, Max, and Elias (2 h + 60 min).
  3. Personal meeting: to find out if we click together, whether it's during lunch or a remote call with all founders - Elias, Joshua, and Philipp (approx. 30 min)

RIZM combines data from production, energy procurement and infrastructure to enable holistic optimization of energy systems, procurement, operation, and production decisions with the help of algorithms. RIZM supports your teams in uncovering and realizing synergy effects in the energy system and already in use by almost 10% of the DAX-40.
