Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Child Development Program Assistant to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a key member of our childcare team, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of an effective child development program that meets the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and conducting daily schedules and activity plans for children
  • Review and implement daily schedules and activity plans, and brief lower graded employees
  • Arrange the room and play materials to accommodate the daily schedule
  • Set up displays and bulletin boards
  • Help create adult-made games and play materials
  • Assist with developing a list of needed supplies and equipment for submission to the supervisor
  • Conduct daily health checks of children
  • Notify the supervisor or Center Director of any marks or other signs that might indicate a suspicion of illness, abuse or neglect
  • Create a pleasant, inviting atmosphere for children
  • Ensure the safety and sanitation of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, etc.
  • Complete and submit required reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Participate in conferences with parents and supervisor
Requirements
  • C-4A: Completed apprenticeship as an Education Technician (Erzieher/in); no additional experience required
  • OR: Completed training as a Kinderpfleger/in; PLUS 1 year of job related experience in dealing with children and infants, arranging festive occasions with and for children
  • Otherwise: E&T Levels I&II: not creditable for positions in this occupational series
  • E&T Levels IIIA and IVA with a completed apprenticeship in an unrelated field PLUS 3 years of job related experience in dealing with children and infants, arranging festive occasions with and for children
  • E&T Level IIIB and C and IVD: 3 years of job related experience in dealing with children and infants, arranging festive occasions with and for children
  • E&T Level IVB and C are not creditable for positions in this occupational series
  • E&T Level V with university or equivalent graduation should be related to early childhood education and care (for example, registered pediatric nurse, teacher, social worker) or similar occupation
  • E&T Level V with a graduation in an unrelated field plus 3 years of job related experience in dealing with children and infants, arranging festive occasions with and for children
Working Conditions
  • Working on holidays required
  • Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, and stand for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • MS Office basic skills required
  • Applicant must be in the possession of a valid driver's license class B
  • English Language Proficiency Level C1 required
