Job Description
In the Professional Service Robots - Outdoor research group at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, we develop autonomous mobile robots for outdoor applications such as agriculture and forestry. Our focus is on the development of an autonomous outdoor navigation solution and the hardware of the robots.
To apply our outdoor robots in the agricultural sector in an ecologically sustainable manner, they must be capable of performing tasks like autonomous mechanical weed control. To this end, our research group is developing and refining tools that can remove weeds, especially close to and around the crop, while minimizing energy consumption and preserving the intactness of the crop.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop new or further develop tools for the autonomous mechanical removal of weeds in the field.
- Design and evaluate prototypes in CAD based on analyses and research into existing systems.
- Evaluate prototypes in trial fields.
Requirements
- Background in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
- Profound knowledge of mechanical design and technical mechanics.
- Experience in agriculture is a plus.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Enthusiasm for mobile robotics.
- Fluent in English or German.
