Overall Purpose of the Position
You are responsible to support local Operation functions in all the activities related to cable production with focus to support technological/process improvement and to give proper assistance to manufacturing issues. This with the continuous support and agreement from central R&D functions.
The role also requires the management and coordination of product development projects, mainly done in the manufacturing units where you will operate, in accordance to the guidelines agreed with function responsible.
These activities imply coordination with other R&D functions, external suppliers, manufacturing, engineering, and Quality Functions. It is required to manage these activities, of course with all the necessary support from senior colleagues, with a global perspective (materials, design, technology, development, and testing).
In addition to all activities related to manufacturing and development in the manufacturing unit it is also key to support and to be involved in activities related to product testing and characterization, technical discussions with customer actively supporting the Project Management and Quality Function when needed. An attitude to quickly enlarge your activity on dynamic system (cable + accessories) solutions is expected, if not already part of your technical skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Good knowledge of all manufacturing processes related to submarine products, with ability to identify improvements and adaptations to new products.
- Specific focus on lay-up and armoring cable technology development and continuous improvement in coordination with HQ technology Head.
- To actively contribute to product development targets in agreement with function responsible.
- To work with design teams and other technical or industrial resources across the company to develop added value products and solutions.
- To maintain a profitable link with all R&D, Engineering and Operation functions to improve product development and technological assistance.
- To contribute to a structured data collection on processes to better define the best practices and to participate actively to their diffusion in the company.
- Making sure that the "state of the art" is applied in all submarine factories and improve cross fertilization also with "land" factories.
- To work actively with Operations in case of new investment definition and implementation.
- To be active promoter of activities for cost saving and efficiency (for example DTC).
- To maintain and to grow continuously His technical knowledge (not only limited to lay-up and armoring after some years).
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or alternatively a relevant vocational training.
- 1-3 years working experience preferably in the cable Industry with a particular focus on manufacturing processes.
- Basic knowledge of Energy Cable design and their manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work in a team, inside the group and across different organizations.
- Ability to build profitable connections with local and group-wide Operations and Quality functions.
- Data-driven with the capability to analyze and translate complex issues into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Analytical thinking, accuracy, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Very good German and English language skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and to work hours that align with different time zones for project needs.
- Strong presentation skills, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workloads to ensure deadline compliance.
- Excellent relationship management (with other R&D functions, engineering, factories, etc.) and experience in dealing with foreign cultures.
