Automation Systems Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team at Dematic, a leading global supplier of integrated automated technology, software, and services to optimize the supply chain.
As an ideal candidate, you will have a strong background in automation and PLC control systems, with expertise in developing, optimizing, and integrating control systems for intralogistics solutions.
Responsibilities- Develop and optimize new control hardware and software for intralogistics products and subsystems.
- Analyze customer requests and ensure their realization in control solutions.
- Configure and parameterize field bus systems such as Profibus and Profinet.
- Configure, test, and optimize different drive technology, e.g. with frequency converters.
- Manage communication interfaces with higher-level computer systems and subsystems, including requirement specifications, interface adaptation, and interface testing.
- Emulate customer-specific software.
- Commission mechatronic challenges and sub-rules such as Storage and retrieval systems at customer sites in Germany and abroad.
- Analyze and solve errors in delivered systems.
- Cultivate and manage customer relationships in international markets.
- Act as the local contact for project-related questions.
- Create operating and message interfaces for HMI and SCADA solutions.
- Create and support documentation and operating instructions.
- Train customer maintenance personnel on system operations.
- Determine the feasibility and cost of complaint currency.
- Test and optimize interfaces between products and subsystems.
- Educated to degree level in electrical or automation technology or experience as a state-recognized technician in the field of automation technology.
- Proven experience as Controls/PLC engineer or similar position.
- Knowledge of PLC controls (Siemens S7, Step 7, TIA portal) and bus systems (Profibus, Profinet).
- Knowledge of electrical drive technology and frequency inverters for controlled motor and servo drives (Siemens / SEW / Dunker).
- A strong understanding of mechatronics and the ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Full working proficiency in both German and English languages.
- Willingsness to travel within Germany as well as internationally for approx. 50% of the time.

Salary Estimate: €70,000 - €90,000 per year (depending on location and experience), plus benefits.
