Brain Data Visualization Research Assistant

Job Opportunity:

The Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our Neuroinformatics Research Group as a Student/Research Assistant. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and improvement of our data visualization tool, 'vini', to effectively interpret complex MRI data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of the vini viewer
  • Implement new features and improve functionality
  • Test and debug the software to ensure robust performance
  • Document the code and usage instructions
  • Provide support for users of the software

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a relevant field of study such as computer science, biomedical engineering, cognitive science, neuroscience, or a comparable field
  • Proficiency in Python programming including experience with libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, and Matplotlib
  • Experience with GUI development using PyQt
  • Experience with Python bindings for C and C++ (e.g., sip, Cython, pybind11) is an advantage but not required
  • Basic understanding of MRI data formats (e.g., .nii, , ) is an advantage but not required
  • Ability to quickly learn new technical tools and concepts
