Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Legal Counsel - Antitrust and Trade to join our team at Delivery Hero's Legal, Governance and Assurance department.

The Antitrust and Trade Law team is responsible for ensuring that our global operations comply with competition and trade laws across 60+ jurisdictions. We are involved in exciting M&A transactions, develop strategies in relation to competition investigations, and foster compliance efforts with competition and sanctions laws throughout the group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and advise on all aspects of competition law arising in the context of Delivery Hero's global operations, including merger control, antitrust investigations and commercial agreements, across 60+ jurisdictions;
  • Provide pragmatic advice in relation to the structuring and risks of potential M&A transactions, including running multi-jurisdictional merger control and foreign direct investment filing assessments, advising on due diligence processes, transaction agreement clauses as well as post-merger integration processes, and overseeing filing processes;
  • Lead on antitrust investigations, including developing strategies and updating senior management on these investigations;
  • Guide local legal teams on a wide range of competition law matters including on investigations and compliance questions across our jurisdictions and developing best practices;
  • Advise on international trade law, in particular on risk mitigation strategies related to EU and US sanctions laws;
  • Develop your managerial skills by leading on strategic projects;
  • Coordinate and negotiate terms with external lawyers;
  • Jump into a dynamic work environment, tackling novel legal questions and developing innovative solutions that balance business needs with legal risks.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of post-qualification experience working in both reputable international law firms and in-house positions, focusing on competition and trade law. Experience advising platforms or tech companies is preferred;
  • Expertise in EU competition law, adept at advising on all substantive and procedural aspects, including merger control, vertical restraints, cartel investigations and platform regulations. Familiarity with foreign direct investment regimes, the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, and US and EU export control and sanctions laws;
  • Global Perspective: Experience with competition and foreign direct investment regimes across multiple jurisdictions;
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communicator, capable of providing on-the-spot, pragmatic advice to business teams and senior executives. Able to prioritize business needs while balancing legal risks;
  • Leadership: Track record of leading teams on projects and managing more junior lawyers effectively;
  • Language Proficiency: Fully proficient in English. Knowledge of German or other languages is an asset but not a requirement.
