Senior Legal Advisor

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Novelis Europe. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for managing European legal issues and providing legal advice to various business functions and operative plants.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the main legal contact for different business functions and Novelis operative plants in Switzerland, Germany, UK, and Italy, providing concise and practical legal advice on contract management, compliance matters, and dispute resolution.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of agreements, including supply and services agreements, terms and conditions, non-disclosure agreements, and cooperation agreements.
• Drive compliance by monitoring legal and regulatory developments in Europe and determining and implementing appropriate legal actions to mitigate compliance risks and regulations.
• Lead negotiations and legal and cross-functional projects.
• Conduct internal trainings on legal, regulatory, and contractual aspects.
• Regularly involve in cross-border and international matters.
• External counsel and litigation management.

Requirements

• A law degree (MLaw or similar) and admission to the bar in Switzerland or Germany (or a comparable jurisdiction).
• At least 5 years of post-qualification work experience, preferably within a law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
• Expertise in contract law and commercial law topics, such as sales, procurement, competition law, and corporate law.
• Expertise or strong interest in compliance matters (regulatory compliance and business compliance) and sustainability-related matters.
• Excellent skills in English and German, with French being a plus.
• Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
