We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our Theoretical Physics group at Universität Bielefeld.

Job Description

The successful candidate will conduct research in the group of Prof. Dr. Sören Schlichting, focusing on initial conditions and non-equilibrium dynamics of heavy-ion collisions, as well as their role in the description of collective dynamics. The researcher will also contribute to the development of real-time methods and their application to the calculation of hadronic spectral functions and the description of dynamically critical behavior.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on initial conditions, non-equilibrium dynamics, and hydrodynamic evolution of heavy-ion collisions based on kinetic and hydrodynamic descriptions.
  • Develop real-time methods for the description of dynamic-critical behavior.
  • Participate in program development for QCD kinetic simulations and effective macroscopic descriptions.
  • Teach 4 courses and supervise Bachelor, Master, and PhD students.
  • Participate in the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Physics.
Requirements
  • Completed scientific university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in physics.
  • Completed doctorate in a related field of research.
  • Documented knowledge in heavy-ion physics and QCD.
  • Experience with the application of numerical methods and programming (C/C++).
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Independent, self-reliant, and committed working style.
  • Cooperative and team-oriented way of working.
Preferred Experience and Skills
  • Experience in teaching and supervising students.
  • Leadership skills.
